This guide is for replacing the double rear camera on the HTC One M8.
Problems : No image, photo app won't launch, wrong colors
Some advice before you start
Recommended repair kit
Step 1
Before disassembling the double rear camera on the HTC One M8, you have to turn it off for safety reasons.
To do so, press the power button and click on "turn off".
Step 2
Insert the SIM card eject tool in the hole as shown on picture one (red circle).
Push in to remove the SIM card.
Step 3
Remove the SIM card tray.
It is now removed.
Step 4
With the iSesamo, peel off the plastic bracket at the top of the phone and remove it.
Step 5
Use a cruciform screwdriver and remove the two screws circled in red.
Step 6
Then use the iSesamo and remove the bottom one which covers the rear case screws.
Step 7
With a torx screwdriver, remove the four screws circled in red.
Step 8
Use the iSesamo and separate the frame from the rear case as shown on the pictures.
You have to insert the iSesamo in the interstices and gently pry.
Step 9
Then lift the main frame and separate it from the rear case.
Step 10
With the nylon spudger, unlock the daughter board connector cable.
Disconnect the cable.
Step 11
Use the nylon spudger and unlock the LCD screen cable connector.
Grab the cable and remove it.
Step 12
With the nylon spudger, gently disconnect the GSM antenna.
Step 13
Keep using the nylon spudger to unlock the volume button cable and the proximity/light sensor cable.
Then disconnect it.
Step 14
Still with the nylon spudger, gently peel off the sticker located on the jack plug connector cable.
Step 15
Then use the spudger and unlock the FPC connector from the jack plug connector cable.
Then grab the jack plug connector cable and remove it.
Step 16
Use the nylon spudger and disconnect the connector which secures the touch screen cable.
Then remove gently the touch screen cable from its connector.
Step 17
Unlock the FPC connector from the second daughter board cable.
Use the spudger's tip and remove the daughter board cable.
Step 18
Gently disconnect the WiFi antenna with the nylon spudger (picture 1 and 2).
Then disconnect the Bluetooth antenna (picture 3 and 4).
Step 19
With the cruciform screwdriver, remove the two screws circled in red.
Those screws secure the battery connector.
Use the nylon spudger, lift and disconnect the battery connector.
Step 20
With a pair of tweezers, grab the small plastic part and remove it.
Step 21
Disconnect the GPS antenna with the nylon spugder.
Step 22
With the Torx screwdriver, remove the two screws circled in red on the 4th picture.
Step 23
Use the pair of tweezers and remove the black tape located on the top speaker connector.
Step 24
Using the nylon spudger, unlock the top speaker connector.
Then with the pair of tweezers, remove the speaker cable.
Step 25
Gently remove the logic board.
Step 26
Use the cruciform screwdriver and remove the four screws circled in red.
They secure the daughter board onto the frame.
Step 27
With the spudger, unlock the connector.
Use a pair of tweezers and gently remove the MicroSD reader cable.
Step 28
Saisissez l'élément plastique noir puis procédez à son retrait en réutilisant la pince.
Step 29
Use the nylon spudger and disconnect vibrator connector.
Be careful with that step, the connector and the vibrator cable are very small and fragile !
Step 30
Still with the nylon spudger, unlock the SIM reader connector.
With the pair of tweezers, remove the SIM reader cable.
Step 31
With a cruciform screwdriver, remove the screw circled in red.
That screw secures the the bottom part of the daughter board.
Step 32
Gently lift the daughter board and remove it.
The daughter board is now removed form the HTC One M8.
Step 33
Use the nylon spudger to disconnect gently both cables of the double rear camera.
Step 34
Then remove the double rear camera.
It is now removed.
You can replace it with a new one if needed.
