You can navigate to and manage your showcases in the left navigation panel of your Video Manager , below your folders.
You'll also be able to find your showcases by hovering over your profile image, clicking the "Showcases" tab, and selecting the appropriate page from the accompanying window .
Creating a showcase
Your Video Manager is the hub for everything you're working on, including showcases . To create a new showcase , head to your Video Manager , hover over your profile image in the top navigation bar, and click "Videos," and then "Showcase" in the left sidebar. In the new window, click the plus sign (+) next to the "Showcase" header to start building a new showcase. You'll be taken to a new page where you can input the name and description of your showcase, as well as set its privacy level.
You'll also be able to edit any showcase you create from your Video Manager .
To create a showcase from the homepage, scroll down to showcases and click the "+" sign.
From there you'll be taken to a page where you can input the showcase's title and description, choose the privacy setting, and add in the videos you'd like to include in your showcase . While your videos can't appear in more than one folder, you can add videos to more than one showcase .
Adding videos
To add a video to a showcase , head to the Video Manager, then click on Showcase in the left navigation panel. Open the showcase you would like to start with then press the grey "+ Add Video" button and select the content you would like to add to the showcase from the lightbox. Then press the blue "Add" button to save your changes.
You can also add videos to your showcase from your Video Manager. To do so, click on "All videos" then select the videos you would like to add to a showcase. Click on "Add to showcases" and choose the specific showcase in the pop-up lightbox window.
Adding a private video to showcase
If you add a private video to a showcase, what happens with that video depends on the privacy settings of your showcase. Putting a private video in a public showcase does not make the video public. Only you will be able to see the video within the showcase.
If you add a private video to a password-protected showcase, anyone with the password to the showcase will be able to watch any private videos within it, without having to enter any additional passwords, unless the embedded privacy settings of the videos do not allow them to be shown on your showcase's domain. This method is great if you want to share groups of private videos with a specific audience.
Setting your showcase to "Hide from Vimeo" will allow you to embed a playlist, but your showcase won't be viewable onVimeo.com. This is great if you only plan to embed your showcase.
Arranging videos
To arrange videos within a showcase, hover the cursor over your profile picture, click " Showcases " then open the showcase you'd like to arrange. In the drop-down menu above your videos, select the drag and drop option to arrange the videos in the order of your choosing .
You can also arrange your videos in the settings page of your showcase under either the "Info & Privacy" or "Assets" tab.
Please note: While you can rearrange the videos within showcases, it isn't possible to rearrange the order of your showcases on your page.
Creating sub-folders to showcase
At this point in time, we don't have a feature that allows for the creation of folders or sub-showcases within showcases. It is also not possible, at this time, to change the order in which your showcases appear on your showcase managementpage. They are organized by the date on which they were created.
Removing videos
If you decide you don't want a video or event in your showcase , go to your "Showcases" tab from the Video Manager and select the showcase you would like to remove videos from. Under the "Assets" tab, click on the three dots to the right of the video you would like to remove and select "Remove" from the dropdown menu.
💡Removing a video from a showcase won't remove the video from your Video Manager .
Adding live events (Enterprise only)
To add a live event to a Showcase, open the Showcase and then selectCreate live event. Only one event can be created per Showcase.Learn more.
Note that the video will not go live until you go live from your live streaming software. More on thishere.
Maximum number of videos that can be added to a showcase
While there is no limit to the number of videos one can add to a showcase, please note that at this point in time it is not possible to custom sort a showcase with more than 100 videos.
Link to showcase landing page
You can locate a link to your showcase landing page by going to your showcase management page and clicking on the eyeball icon on your showcase's card. Alternatively, navigate to your showcase's settings page and in the left-hand panel select "Web" then click the Preview button on the right side of the screen to go to your showcase.
Interaction tools in showcases
Any video interaction tools (such as end screens, cards, and contact forms) that you previously added will be shown within your showcase to facilitate audience engagement. Once you've shared your showcase, your viewers will see your interaction tools when viewing the showcase (in the image below, the interaction tool is and contact form set to display before the start of the video).
Showcase Privacy
You can designate a showcase's privacy under the "Info & Privacy" tab by choosing "Password" when creating your showcase . If you'd like to change a showcase's privacy later, just go to your Video Manager , click Showcases in the left-hand sidebar, select the showcase you want to edit, then visit the "Info & Privacy" tab and open the dropdown menu that appears below the privacy header. All videos within this showcase can now be shared securely.
If you add a nonpublic video to a showcase , what happens with that video depends on the privacy settings of your showcase . Putting a nonpublic video in a public showcase does not make the video public. Only you will be able to see the video within the showcase .
If you add a nonpublic video to a password-protected showcase , anyone with the password to the showcase will be able to watch any videos within it, without having to enter any additional passwords. This method is great if you want to share groups of nonpublic videos with a specific audience.
Setting your showcase to "Hide from Vimeo" will allow you to embed a playlist, but your showcase won't be viewable onvimeo.com (this setting is best for users only looking to embed their videos).
With an Enterprise account, you could also set your showcase to "Only people on my team," which will restrict the content of the showcase only to team members you've added to your account. This is helpful with sharing internal content within your organization.
Showcase thumbnails
By default, the cover of a showcase will consist of the video thumbnails from the three first videos inside that showcase. You can edit the thumbnail shown by selectingAssets in the left panel, then Edit thumbnail. From here, you can manually select a frame from a video in your showcase, generate a thumbnail at random, or upload a custom image file.
Adding a custom thumbnail via the "Asset" tab will not update the banner image shown on the showcase landing page when using the "Featured" layout. The banner image will reflect the thumbnail of the first video in your showcase. If you would like to change this image, please go to the video's settings page and on the "General" tab, under the "Info" section, choose Edit thumbnail, then select an option from the dropdown menu.
Customizing your showcase
Vimeo Pro members and higher will also be able to customize their showcases to reflect the identity of their brand, project, or presentation.
Once you've created your showcase , navigate to the Web tab on the left side to make further changes.
You'll be able to choose from two layout templates (three if you are Enterprise), select from a light or dark theme, add or remove Vimeo branding, upload a custom logo, choose an accent color, and allow or disable downloads, among other options . If you select Featured or Live, you can also toggle "Continuous play" which will dictate whether the following video automatically starts playing.
To the right of the settings menu, you'll see a preview of your showcase. You can also click thePreview button to open a new window displaying your showcase as it appears to your viewers.
In addition to the Layout, you can set a custom domain for your showcase by selecting theDomain tab at the top. This allows you to either customize a Vimeo URL or connect your showcase to an existing domain that you already own. Read more on this below.
Be sure to click the Savebutton in the upper right corner before moving onto additional settings.
Embedding your showcase
You can embed your showcase on your website using an embeddable playlist. Embedded playlists are a feature within showcases. They can be viewed on both mobile devices and desktops.
To create an embeddable playlist, go to your showcase's settings page then click on the "Embed" tab in the left-hand panel. This will open up your playlist settings.
From here you can decide whether or not the embedded playlist will be responsive (so that the video will adapt to the height and width of its container on a smaller screen) or if you have custom dimensions you'd like it to stick to. This information will be reflected in the embed code above that you can copy and paste into your website's code.
Please note that in order to embed a playlist, you must use its respective embed code (whether fixed size or responsive). You cannot insert showcase URLs into applications that do not support embed codes (for example themes, plugins, galleries, etc).
Sharing a showcase
Go to your Video Manager and click Showcases on the left sidebar, then select the showcase you would like to share. On the right-hand side of the page, above the videos that appear in the showcase, you'll see a Share button. Click on the button to open the dropdown menu, then select "Share." A lightbox will appear with options to get a link to share on social media, or input email addresses and send to recipients that way.
You can also select "Copy embed code" to copy the embeddable playlist iframe code to your clipboard.
Your team members accessing showcase on your team account
Admin-level team members can access your account to help you upload and manage all your videos, folders, and collections. They can create, manage, and delete collections on the team account, including showcases.
You can update a team member to the Admin level by clicking the " Manage Team " tab in your Account Settings . You'll see all your existing team members on this page; from the dropdown menu, you'll have the option to select Uploader, Contributor, Viewer, or Admin. You can read more about team member permissions here.
Hosting showcase on your own website
It is possible to host a showcase on your website. To set up a custom domain for your showcase, you can use a domain that you already own (for example, https://my-rad-site.com), set up a subdomain on your existing website (https://showcase.my-rad-site.com), or purchase a new domain to use (https://my-new-site.com). You can purchase a domain from sites such as DreamHost.com, name.com, or GoDaddy.com.
If you want your showcase to live on your main domain (https://my-rad-site.com), follow your domain registrar's instructions to set the domain's A-Record to 34.67.129.45.
If you want your showcase to live on a subdomain (https://showcase.my-rad-site.com), you will need to follow your registrar's instructions for updating your CNAME Record so that it points to vimeoshowcase.com.
If you currently have an HTTP connection set up, and you'd prefer to use HTTPS, you'll need to update the DNS records on your domain provider's end. The DNS records to update there are:
-
-
CNAME:vimeoshowcase.com
-
A Record: 34.67.129.45
-
Please note that it may take up to 72 hours for these settings to take effect.
Once the records for your domain or subdomain are set, go to your showcase and navigate to Web > Domain > Connect a domain you already own. Enter the domain or subdomain there and be sure to save your settings. Test out the connection by opening the domain or subdomain into a new browser window.
These steps are also detailed here in our help center here.
Customizing a showcase domain
As a Vimeo Pro member or higher you can use a custom domain for your Showcase. Vimeo now supports the ability to add another layer of security to your connected custom domain with HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure).
HTTPS transmits its data security using an encrypted connection, ensuring that the connection to your domain is encrypted, and preventing potential attackers from accessing or impersonating your site. When you connect to an HTTPS-secured server, secure sites will automatically redirect you to the HTTPS version.
To set up a custom domain for your Showcase, y ou can use a domain that you already own (https://my-rad-site.com), set up a subdomain on your existing website (https://showcase.my-rad-site.com), or purchase a new domain to use (https://my-new-site.com).
- Set up your domain – Purchase a domain from a registrar such as DreamHost.com, name.com, or 1and1.com. Alternately, you can set up a subdomain on your existing site. (Contact your registrar or hosting service for instructions.)
- Update your CNAME Record or A Record – If you want your showcase to live on a subdomain (https://showcase.my-rad-site.com), you will need to follow your registrar's instructions for updating your CNAME Record so that it points to vimeoshowcase.com. If you want your showcase to live on your main domain (https://my-rad-site.com), follow your domain registrar's instructions to set the domain's A-Record to 34.67.129.45.
If you currently have an HTTP connection set up, it will stay connected to your Showcase. If you'd like to use HTTPS, you'll need to update the DNS records on your domain provider's end. The DNS records to update on your domain provider's end are:
- CNAME: vimeoshowcase.com
- A Record: 34.67.129.45
Note: It may take up to 72 hours for these changes to take effect.
- Update your showcase settings – In your Showcase Settings, enter your domain or subdomain by navigating to Web > Domain>Connect a domain you already own.
- Test your new showcase domain – Open a new browser window and navigate to the domain or subdomain you just set up. You should now see your Showcase! If you don't see it, and it has been more than 72 hours since you updated your CNAME or A-Record, contact your domain registrar for further assistance.
Troubleshooting Your Custom Domain Connection
If you're having trouble connecting your custom domain, there are a number of factors that could be contributing to the issue. The most common causes are:
- Your domain is expired . The first thing you'll want to do is check with your domain registrar to ensure that your domain is still active and registered with them before continuing. Then, ensure the domain is disconnected from your Showcase, and attempt to connect it again.
- We were unable to issue an SSL certificate to your domain. Sometimes certificates aren't able to be issued for a number of reasons. We recommend trying to disconnect the domain from your Showcase, then attempting to reconnect it, before completing further troubleshooting.
SEO Support
Vimeo Business members and above can use our search engine optimization (SEO) tool to help their Showcase websites and social shares get discovered by new audiences online. Without SEO, the only way for new viewers to find your showcases is via a direct link. However, if you opt in to allowing Google to index your public showcases, they will become discoverable via search query, and gain a wider viewership.
Additionally, whenever you share your Showcase to a social platform now, you should see your Showcase's description below its title, instead of messaging about Vimeo.
Watching a showcase
When a viewer opens your showcase page, they can click any video inside the showcase to watch it. Clicking a video's title will bring them to a page inside the showcase where they can view the video by itself in a larger player.
When viewing a video in a showcase with the Default or Featured layout, there is an option on the right side of the page to "Autoplay next video" with a list of the following videos in the showcase below it. Leaving this switch toggled on will play the next video in the showcase as soon as the current video concludes.
Showcases in the Live layout feature arrow icons on either side of the player allowing viewers to navigate between videos in the showcase. If you enabled "Continuous play," the next video will automatically start playing.
If a viewer wants to locate a specific video within the showcase, they can use the search function towards the top right corner of the showcase to find the video.
There is currently no way to automatically loop from the end of the showcase to the first video in the showcase , so you may want to advise your viewers to start at the beginning of the showcase .
iOS and Android apps
You can also view and share showcases from the Vimeo app for Android and iOS. Within each app, visit the home tab ("Home" on Android and the Vimeo logo on iOS) and scroll all the way down to view the showcases on your account. From the app, you'll be able to view and share any showcase; however, you will not be able to create a new showcase or edit existing ones.
TV apps
Showcases cannot be viewed or shared to the Vimeo app found on TV devices (Apple TV, Roku, SamsungTV, etc). However, Vimeo members who are Pro and above can insert Showcases into custom-created Roku channels and Amazon Fire TV apps. For more information on setting up a custom app or channel, please visit this article.
